The usual suspects are at the top of the odds for the men’s Wimbledon draw. These four men have combined to win the last 14 editions of the tournament, and it’ll be a major upset if someone else breaks through. Let’s take a look at the Wimbledon betting favorites on the men’s side.
Roger Federer
Federer is going for his eighth win at Wimbledon, which would give him the all-time record, and he hasn’t won here since 2012. However, he has lost two finals and a semifinal in the last three years here, and even though the Swiss is on the decline, he is still one of the top four players in the world. In 2017, Federer has won the Australian Open, Masters tournaments in Indian Wells and Miami and the Halle Open in Germany. Federer even sat out the French Open to make sure that his body is rested for Wimbledon, and the only thing that could beat him is the pressure he puts on himself to break the record.
Andy Murray
Murray, representing Great Britain by way of Scotland, is the top seed here and won Wimbledon in 2013 and 2016. This year, Murray has won one title in Dubai, but he hasn’t really taken advantage of the fall of Novak Djokovic as many would have thought. He’ll also be under a lot of pressure as, of course, the English fans would love to see a Great Britain player win at Wimbledon. His 2013 win was the first win by a British player at Wimbledon since 1936, and it was highly celebrated. There is always a lot of pressure on Murray, but more so at Wimbledon than anywhere else.
Rafael Nadal
Nadal is one spot behind Federer in the seedings at fourth, and he is a two-time winner at Wimbledon, taking it all in 2008 and 2010. He lost in the 2011 final, but failed to make it past the fourth round in four straight years, and then skipped it last year. Nadal is back with a vengeance as he lost to Federer in the Australian Open final and in Miami, but he dominated clay-court season. Nadal won in Monte Carlo, Barcelona and Madrid before winning his 10th French Open title, but it remains to be seen what kind of toll it took on the Spanish great’s body. If he is fit, Nadal will be in the running for his third title at Wimbledon.
Novak Djokovic
Djokovic is the most interesting Wimbledon betting option of all as he is seeded second and has won Wimbledon three times in 2011, 2014 and 2015. He has won in Qatar and Eastbourne this year, but there are a lot of questions about Djokovic’s mental toughness, which we thought was in the past. He seems like he should have won way more than he has and this has been a problem since last year. Djokovic went out in the second round of the Australian Open and the quarterfinals at the French Open; anything less than a trip to the semifinals at Wimbledon and the questions will get even louder for the Serbian player.
